South Africa has been in forefront of most of the new HIV prevention research products, with several of the prevention research methods moving from trials to now possible rollout, from the dapivirine vaginal ring to long-acting injectable antiretroviral, and continues an emphasis on-demand creation for oral PrEP.
GBGMC will work with KP and other community stakeholders in South Africa to track, create demand and act as an accountability mechanism for current and new HIV prevention methods.
The ultimate goal of this project, supported by MERCK, is to support the development of a landscape analysis of the current engagement of MSM/KP in South Africa, including the funding and support landscape for demand creation for prevention methods in the country.
The longtime goal of this project is to support the development and sustainability of a Southern Africa KP-centered mechanism dedicated to advancing the engagement and communications efforts that help accelerate biomedical prevention products.
