About the Fund

Across Latin America and the Caribbean, LGBTQI+ communities and the organizations that serve them face escalating threats — criminalization, violence, organized stigmatization campaigns, funding restrictions, and the defunding of community-led HIV responses.

When a crisis hits, the need for support is immediate. To respond, Global Black Gay Men Connect (GBGMC) established the Emergency Support Fund — providing rapid, flexible support through two complementary pathways.

Applicants must demonstrate that the majority of their governance, leadership, staff, membership, or volunteers are members of the communities they represent, and that they maintain accountability to those communities.

HOW TO APPLY — 5 STEPS

1 · Complete the Security Self-Assessment

Required first step for all organizational applicants. It is not designed to exclude organizations — it helps GBGMC understand your security situation and tailor support.

2 · Prepare your application

Complete the Application Form, write your Project Proposal (max 5 pages), fill in the Budget Template, and prepare your Organizational Profile plus registration or fiscal sponsorship documents.

3 · Submit by July 16, 2026

Email your complete application to emergencyfund@gbgmc.org with the subject line: ESF Grant Application – [Country] – [Organization Name]. You will receive confirmation of receipt within 2 business days.

4 · Screening and technical review

GBGMC screens applications for eligibility and completeness, then the Rapid Response Review Committee assesses urgency, capacity, feasibility, and safeguarding (July 17–28).

5 · Decision and project start

All applicants are notified by August 1, 2026. Successful applicants sign a Grant Agreement and projects begin on August 10, 2026.

HOW TO GET HELP

1 · Email us — any time

Write to emergencyfund@gbgmc.org with the subject line: URGENT – Individual Emergency Assistance – [Country]. A brief description of your situation is enough to start. No registration, proposal, or fiscal sponsor required — you may use a pseudonym.

2 · Complete a short request form

We will send you a short Emergency Assistance Request Form — or download it below. It can be completed in English, Spanish, or Portuguese, or by phone or secure messaging app if writing is not safe.

3 · We respond within 72 hours

Requests are assessed on a rolling basis, year-round. For the most urgent situations — imminent arrest, violence, or forced displacement — we aim to respond within 24 hours.

Who can apply?
Organizations (Pathway 1): registered LGBTQI+ led organizations, community-led HIV organizations, national and regional LGBTQI+ networks, community-based and grassroots organizations operating in OECD ODA-eligible countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Individuals (Pathway 2): LGBTQI+ individuals, activists, and human rights defenders facing urgent safety or security emergencies.
Can informal organizations apply?
Yes. Informal or unregistered LGBTQI+ led groups can apply through an eligible fiscal sponsor or fiscal agent who will receive and administer funds on their behalf.

How much funding is available?
Organizational grants of up to USD 7,000 per organization, for projects of up to 6 months. Approximately 10 grants are expected this round from a total pool of USD 70,000. Individual Emergency Assistance is direct support (not a grant) assessed case by case.
Can I apply in Spanish or Portuguese?
Yes. Applications, request forms, and all communications can be in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. All application documents are available in the three languages.
What is the Security Self-Assessment and why is it required?
It is a short self-scoring workbook covering general, data, people, and incident security. It is a required first step for all organizational applicants — not designed to exclude anyone. A GREEN result means you are ready to apply; YELLOW means you can apply with a security-strengthening component; RED means we will discuss preparatory support with you first.
How long does the review process take?
Organizations: about 6 weeks from call opening (July 3) to award notification (August 1). Individuals: requests are assessed within 72 hours — within 24 hours for the most urgent situations.
Can individuals and organizations both apply?
Yes. Both pathways can be used at the same time — an organization can apply for a grant while its staff or community members also request individual assistance.
What happens after I submit my application?
You will receive confirmation of receipt within 2 business days. Applications are then screened for eligibility and completeness (you may be contacted once for clarification), reviewed by the Rapid Response Review Committee, and decided at the Committee meeting on July 28. All applicants are notified by August 1, 2026.

ZAMBIA

MUZU W H

Muzu W H is a Zambian public health specialist and human rights advocate with over a decade of experience at the intersection of public health, community development, and human rights. He is the Founder of a Human Rights Foundation, an organisation dedicated to the promotion and protection of health rights and broader human rights in Zambia, with a particular focus on key and marginalised populations including GBMSM, transgender persons, and sex workers.

Throughout my career, He has led HIV prevention, care, and treatment programmes targeting key populations across multiple provinces in Zambia, training hundreds of community and healthcare workers and surpassing programme targets. He has managed multidisciplinary teams and institutional partnerships with organisations including UNFPA, the Zambian Ministry of Health, and CDC-funded programmes.

His vision for the Africa GBMSM Forum centres on strengthening community-led advocacy, bridging health and legal frameworks, and ensuring that the lived realities of African GBMSM communities inform continental and global policy. He is committed to leveraging his experience in high-risk advocacy environments to advance the Forum's mission

ZIMBABWE

MOJALIFA

Mojalifa is a Zimbabwean development practitioner and human rights advocate with extensive experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV programming, and community-led interventions. With a strong focus on key populations, Mojalifa has contributed to the design and implementation of inclusive, rights-based programmes aimed at improving access to health services and addressing structural barriers such as stigma and discrimination.

Mojalifa provides strategic leadership in advancing community-led health programming, strengthening referral systems, and promoting equitable access to services for underserved populations with a KP organisation.


In addition to their organisational leadership, Mojalifa holds several national and global leadership positions. They are the current National Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Key Populations Forum, a role they have held for the past five years, providing strategic direction and representation for key population networks.

Mojalifa also serves as Co-Chair of the National Community-Led Monitoring Steering Committee and is the Key Populations Representative on the Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) in Zimbabwe.

As the Zimbabwe Country Representative to the Africa GBMSM Forum, Mojalifa is committed to amplifying GBMSM voices, strengthening regional collaboration, and advancing advocacy efforts that promote health equity, human rights, and inclusive development across Africa.

UGANDA

MOSES

Moses M is a Ugandan human rights defender, GBMSM advocate, and community organizer. He provides strategic leadership, overseeing organizational programs, operations, growth, planning, budgeting, performance analysis, and resource mobilization. Has lead initiatives focused on HIV prevention, human rights, and community empowerment while managing teams and strengthening program delivery systems. He has also served as a member of the Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanism, supporting grant processes and providing oversight to implementing partners. Moses M has built strong partnerships with civil society, government, and international stakeholders. He has actively participated in Universal Periodic Review processes and represented community interests at international forums in Geneva, The Gambia, and Côte d’Ivoire. He is a member of regional LGBTI security platforms and broader civil society coalitions.


In the Africa GBMSM Forum, he is committed to advancing community-led advocacy, sustainable financing, integrated security, and stronger regional collaboration to amplify GBMSM voices across the continent.

TUNISIE

MOUAYED

Mouayed est un·e artiste multidisciplinaire et activiste communautaire basé·e à Tunis, en Tunisie,
également connu·e dans sa pratique artistique sous le nom de Manuella la Stella. Son travail se situe à
l’intersection de l’art, du plaidoyer et de l’engagement communautaire, avec un intérêt particulier
pour les questions liées aux droits des personnes LGBTQIA+, à la diversité de genre et à la justice
sociale.


Depuis 2016, Mouayed est activement impliqué·e au sein de DAMJ – l’Association tunisienne pour la
justice et l’égalité, une organisation engagée dans la défense des droits des personnes LGBTQIA+ en
Tunisie. Depuis 2019, il·elle fait partie du comité de prise en charge, contribuant à l’accompagnement
de personnes confrontées à la discrimination, à l’exclusion sociale et à différentes formes de
vulnérabilité. Depuis 2022, Mouayed participe également à la documentation de cas de discrimination
et de violations des droits humains affectant les communautés LGBTQIA+, contribuant ainsi aux
efforts de plaidoyer et de suivi des droits humains.


Au niveau régional, Mouayed a également pris part à des initiatives panafricaines liées aux droits
humains et à la santé des communautés GBMSM. En 2025, il·elle a contribué à l’élaboration et à la
rédaction d’un rapport panafricain présenté dans le cadre des travaux de la Commission africaine des
droits de l’homme et des peuples, portant sur les réalités et les défis rencontrés par les communautés
LGBTQIA+ en Afrique.


En tant que représentant·e de la Tunisie au sein du Forum africain des GBMSM, Mouayed souhaite
contribuer au renforcement de la solidarité régionale, à l’amplification des voix communautaires et au
développement d’actions collectives pour promouvoir la santé, la dignité et les droits humains des
communautés GBMSM à travers l’Afrique.

TOGO

CHARLES

Je suis AHIAKOU K. Mawuvi Charles, éducateur en droits humains basé au Togo, activiste
engagé et coordonnateur de l’association AFRIQUE ARC-EN-CIEL /TOGO. Mon parcours
est profondément ancré dans un engagement communautaire progressif, guidé par la dignité
humaine, la justice sociale et l’inclusion.


J’ai débuté en tant que pair éducateur, au plus près des réalités de terrain, en sensibilisant mes
pairs sur la santé, notamment la prévention des IST/VIH. Cette première expérience m’a
permis de comprendre les défis quotidiens auxquels font face les communautés marginalisées
(LGBTQ+), en particulier en matière d’accès à des services de santé de qualité. J’ai ensuite
évolué comme conseiller psychosocial, accompagnant les personnes vivant avec le VIH ainsi
que celles confrontées à la stigmatisation, aux discriminations et aux violences.


Au fil des années, en tant que bénévole communautaire, j’ai contribué à la mise en œuvre de
plusieurs projets soutenus par des partenaires internationaux, tout en renforçant mes
compétences en mobilisation communautaire, en documentation des cas de violations et en
plaidoyer stratégique. J’ai activement participé à des initiatives de plaidoyer communautaire
visant à améliorer l’accès à des services de santé inclusifs, respectueux et adaptés aux besoins
des populations clés.


J’ai également contribué à l’élaboration du rapport alternatif dans le cadre de l’Examen
Périodique Universel (EPU), mettant en lumière les violations des droits humains, ainsi qu’à
des espaces de dialogue national sur le respect des droits fondamentaux, notamment en
matière de santé.


Aujourd’hui, en tant que Coordonnateur, je poursuis cet engagement avec conviction, en
œuvrant pour des services de qualité, la prévention du VIH et la promotion des droits des
personnes LGBTQ+. Ma vision pour le Forum africain des GBMSM est de renforcer les
alliances, partager des expériences et contribuer à des stratégies africaines inclusives et
durables.

TCHAD

HAMZA

Hza est le fondateur de l’association Fierté Sans Frontières Tchad et membre en charge des subventions au sein du collectif Mpongo d’Afrique Centrale. Profondément engagé dans la promotion des droits humains, de la santé et du bien-être des communautés marginalisées, il concentre particulièrement ses actions sur les gbMSM à travers des initiatives de plaidoyer, de sensibilisation et de renforcement des capacités communautaires.


Son parcours se distingue par une implication soutenue en faveur de l’accès équitable aux services de santé, notamment dans les domaines de la prévention du VIH, du dépistage et de l’accompagnement psychosocial. Fort de son expertise en gestion de subventions et en coordination de projets, Hamza contribue activement à la mobilisation et à la gestion efficace de ressources destinées à soutenir des initiatives communautaires innovantes et inclusives.


Il collabore étroitement avec des partenaires nationaux et régionaux afin de promouvoir des politiques publiques respectueuses des droits humains et adaptées aux réalités des minorités sexuelles. Parmi ses principales réalisations figurent la mise en œuvre de programmes de santé communautaire, le renforcement des capacités des organisations locales, ainsi que la création de synergies entre acteurs engagés dans la lutte contre les discriminations et les inégalités en Afrique Centrale.

Hamza a également joué un rôle déterminant dans la visibilité, la structuration et la reconnaissance d’initiatives portées par les communautés gbMSM.


Sa vision pour les forums africains des gbMSM est de contribuer à un espace stratégique d’échange, d’innovation et de plaidoyer, capable de générer des solutions durables. TANZANIA

MICHAEL M.

Michael M is a public health specialist (MPH) and human rights defender from Tanzania with over 14 years of experience working with key and vulnerable populations, particularly gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) and other sexual and gender minorities. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Tanzania Safety and Security Taskforce (TSST) for key populations.

Michael has extensive experience in HIV prevention programming, policy advocacy, and community-led responses to violence and human rights violations. He has contributed to the development of national policies and guidelines for key populations, including HIV prevention frameworks and safety and security strategies, and actively engages in regional and global advocacy platforms to advance inclusive health and human rights agendas.

His work focuses on strengthening community systems, improving safety and security mechanisms, and expanding access to inclusive and quality health services. He has led initiatives on legal aid, emergency response services, and safe housing for marginalized communities, while coordinating multi-stakeholder efforts to enhance protection and resilience.

Michael has participated in major international forums, including the International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference, the Equal Rights Coalition (ERC), ICASA, HLPF SDGs, UPR where he has shared insights on community-led approaches and human rights advocacy.

Through his role in the Africa GBMSM Forum, Michael aims to strengthen regional solidarity, amplify community voices, and ensure that the lived realities of GBMSM in Tanzania are reflected in continental and global decision-making processes.

NAMIBIA

KEVIN

I am a Namibian human rights practitioner, legal and policy specialist, and social entrepreneur with extensive experience in advocacy, governance, and community engagement. I currently serve as Head of Public Policy and Legal Affairs in Namibia and I am actively involved as the Legal Officer/Consultant in with different organisations. My work focuses on advancing human rights, strengthening policy frameworks, and promoting inclusive development, particularly for marginalised communities.

I have been actively engaged in GBMSM-related advocacy through broader LGBTQI+ and human rights initiatives, contributing to national, regional, and international processes such as the Universal Periodic Review. I have supported efforts to highlight issues affecting GBMSM communities, including access to healthcare, stigma, discrimination, and protection from violence. My work bridges legal advocacy with community realities, ensuring that lived experiences inform policy and programming.

I have also participated in regional platforms such as the ILGA World Conference and the Southern African Litigation Centre’s activist forums, contributing to dialogue on strategic litigation, decriminalisation, and community protection.

My vision for contributing to the Africa GBMSM Forum is to strengthen collaboration between national and regional actors, amplify underrepresented voices within GBMSM communities, and support more effective, community-informed advocacy. I am committed to fostering inclusive, practical, and rights-based approaches that improve access to services, safety, and dignity for GBMSM individuals across Africa.

MALI

MAMOUDOU

Mam.T est un expert engagé dans la promotion de la santé et la défense des droits humains, avec une spécialisation marquée pour les minorités sexuelles et de genre ainsi que les populations clés et marginalisées. Son parcours professionnel s'articule à l'intersection de la santé publique, de l’organisation communautaire et de la protection des droits fondamentaux dans des contextes sociaux et juridiques complexes.

Expertise et Expérience de Terrain

Fort d'une solide expérience en pair-éducation et en communication, il s'est particulièrement illustré dans la prévention virtuelle au pres des HSH liée à la lutte contre le VIH/Sida en tant que pair éducateur en suite Community Manager. Il a aussi piloté des programmes essentiels touchant à la sécurité, au bien-être et au plaidoyer communautaire.

  • Son action sur le terrain englobe plusieurs dimensions clés :
    Santé Publique : Mise en œuvre de projets de sensibilisation, de dépistage et d'accompagnement psychosocial.
  • Plaidoyer communautaire : Représentation des communautés auprès de partenaires techniques, financiers et de missions diplomatiques pour documenter les réalités locales et promouvoir un environnement inclusif.
  • Analyse de données : Appui stratégique à la collecte et à l’analyse des données sur les violences basées sur le genre (VBG) pour affiner les interventions.
  • Facilitation : faciliter des sessions des renforcement de capacités sur les Droits humains, autonomisations, sécurité individuelle, collective et numérique.

Approche et Réalisations

Mamoudou Traoré privilégie une méthodologie de travail axée sur la redevabilité, l’écoute active et la co-construction avec les communautés. Il a notamment coordonné diverses activités communautaires et participé à des formations stratégiques pour renforcer les capacités des acteurs de terrain.

Vision et Engagement Régional

Tourné vers l'avenir, il ambitionne de jouer un rôle moteur au sein du Forum africain des GBMSM. Sa vision repose sur le renforcement des synergies nationales et régionales, le partage d’expériences et le développement de stratégies innovantes adaptées aux contextes africains. Son objectif ultime est de favoriser des changements durables pour garantir l’accès équitable aux soins et le respect des droits fondamentaux des GBMSM et d’autres communautés marginalisées sur le continent.

LIBERIA

EVANS

Mr Evans L. A is a Liberian LGBTIQ+ human rights activist, community organizer, and public health advocate with extensive experience advancing the rights, health, and wellbeing of gay, bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). Currently a leads, a community-led organization that delivers programs focused on HIV prevention, treatment literacy, psychosocial support, and safe referral pathways for key populations in Liberia.


Evans has played a pivotal role in strengthening community-led responses to stigma, discrimination, and barriers to healthcare affecting GBMSM. He has mobilized and mentored peer educators, facilitated safe spaces for dialogue, and supported grassroots leadership development across diverse communities. As Chairperson of the Key Populations Conosrtium, a national coalition of LGBTIQ+ organizations in Liberia, he has enhanced coordination, unified advocacy efforts, and amplified community voices at national and regional levels.


A committed advocate for human rights, Evans has contributed to Liberia’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process and the development of the National Human Rights Action Plan, ensuring the inclusion of GBMSM and other key populations. He also leads a civil society task force opposing the proposed Anti-LGBTIQ+ Bill, engaging policymakers and stakeholders in strategic advocacy and dialogue.

Regionally, Evans serves on the Steering Committee of the Civil Society Institute for HIV and Health in West and Central Africa and is a member of the African Key Population Expert Group. Through the Africa GBMSM Forum, he aims to strengthen regional collaboration, elevate community voices, and advance inclusive, rights-based approaches to health and human rights across the continent.

GUINEE

ALPHONSE

Acteur engagé de la société civile guinéenne, Alphonse. B dédie sa carrière depuis trois ans à la défense des droits fondamentaux et à la santé des populations clés. Depuis 2023, il dirige le Centre Communautaire pour les populations clés, une structure vitale offrant prévention, prise en charge du VIH/SIDA et soutien psychosocial aux communautés GBMSM et autres groupes marginalisés.

Son leadership a franchi une étape historique en 2025. En tant que Responsable de programmes chez Afrique Arc-En-Ciel Guinée, il a coordonné la rédaction du rapport alternatif conjoint sur les droits des minorités sexuelles en Guinée, soumis au Conseil des droits de l'homme des Nations Unies. Sa participation active au passage de la Guinée à l'Examen Périodique Universel (EPU) a permis l’intégration de son association à la Coordination des Défenseurs des Droits de l’Homme (CODDH). Dans ce cadre, il participe au suivi des engagements étatiques et le renforcement de capacités des organisations membres.


Parallèlement, comme Directeur de programmes du Réseau National « AMOUR » depuis 2025, il accompagne les associations partenaires dans la structuration de projets stratégiques au groupe minoritaire. Sa vision pour le Forum africain des GBMSM est celle d’un espace de solidarité panafricaine où le leadership local est le moteur du changement. Il aspire à apporter son expertise pour amplifier les voix africaines dans les espaces de décision mondiaux. Pour lui, le Forum doit être le laboratoire d’une résilience collective, capable de transformer les défis législatifs en opportunités de progrès social pour chaque individu.

Actuellement Secrétaire Exécutif National du Réseau des Organisations Identitaires des Populations Clés en RDC, j’assure la direction politique et la coordination stratégique des interventions en faveur des communautés les plus vulnérables.

​Mon expertise technique est reconnue au plus haut niveau de l'État, où je participe activement à la rédaction des Plans Stratégiques Nationaux de santé. Cette vision macroéconomique et stratégique est complétée par un engagement opérationnel en tant que Point Focal Genre et Droits Humains pour le projet GC7 du fond mondial.

Spécialiste du Suivi Communautaire (CLM), je veille à ce que les politiques de santé soient non seulement inclusives, mais aussi rigoureusement monitorées par les bénéficiaires eux-mêmes.
​Passionné par le renforcement des capacités et la transformation sociale, j'interviens également comme formateur certifié LILO (Looking In, Looking Out). Je suis activiste de défense des droits humains en république du Congo depuis 2016 je militepour la défense des droits des Minorité et de genre en république du Congo .J’ai débuter macarrière d’activiste entant que cofondateur de l’Association cœur arc en ciel exerçant le rôle dusecrétaire général en 2016 et en 2018 jusqu’à nos jours président fondateur de l’Association des personnes vulnérables du Congo en sigle APVC une ONG qui travail dans la promotion des droits humains et la justice sociale ainsi que dans la lutte contre le VIH/sida ,IST ainsi que les différentes pathologies liées aux VIH/sida et IST au sein des Minorités sexuelles et de genre en Républiquedu Congo.J’ai de l’expérience en plaidoyer, j’ai subis une formation auprès de l’ONG ESPACECONFIANCE en Abidjan sur la mobilisation des des ressources et le plaidoyer , prise de parole enpublique leadership communautaire , counsling et la vie associative . Tres. Und, acteur engagé dans les domaines de la santé communautaire, des droits humains et de l’organisation communautaire, avec une expérience progressive allant de pair éducateur à assistant au sein du mécanisme de veille et de réponse communautaire (MERCO). Mon parcours reflète un engagement constant en faveur de l’accès équitable aux services de santé, en particulier pour les populations clés et vulnérables, y compris les GBMSM.


En tant qu’ancien pair éducateur en ligne, J’ai joué un rôle essentiel dans la sensibilisation, la prévention du VIH et la promotion de comportements de santé responsables à travers des plateformes numériques, atteignant efficacement des communautés souvent difficiles d’accès. Mon approche innovante et centrée sur la confidentialité m’a permis de bâtir la confiance et d’encourager l’utilisation des services de dépistage et de soins.

Actuellement assistant au MERCO, Je contribue activement à la documentation des violations des droits humains, au suivi des incidents communautaires et à la coordination des réponses adaptées en collaboration avec différents acteurs. Mon travail a renforcé les mécanismes de protection et d’alerte rapide, tout en facilitant l’accès à la justice et aux services pour les victimes.

Parmi Mes principales réalisations figurent le renforcement de la mobilisation communautaire, l’amélioration de la remontée des données fiables et la participation à des initiatives de plaidoyer pour un environnement plus inclusif.

Ma vision pour le Forum africain des GBMSM est de partager des pratiques innovantes, renforcer les collaborations régionales et promouvoir des stratégies centrées sur les droits humains afin d’améliorer durablement la santé et le bien-être des communautés.

BURKINA

MAXIME

Je me nomme Max, étudiant en Licence 2 de sociologie et en management de projet, engagé depuis plus de huit ans dans le militantisme communautaire. Je suis activiste, pair éducateur et acteur engagé dans la promotion de la santé, notamment en santé mentale et dans la lutte contre le VIH, ainsi que dans la défense des droits humains des personnes marginalisées, y compris les GBMSM.
Au fil des années, j’ai développé des compétences en gestion de projet, en management des institutions humanitaires, en négociation internationale et en gestion des crises humanitaires, appuyées par plusieurs certifications dans ces domaines. Mon engagement s’est traduit par la mise en œuvre d’initiatives communautaires, la sensibilisation, le plaidoyer et le renforcement des capacités des jeunes et des populations clés.


À travers mon rôle au sein du Forum africain des GBMSM, je souhaite contribuer activement à amplifier les voix des communautés au Burkina Faso, renforcer la coordination des actions de plaidoyer, et favoriser une meilleure prise en compte des réalités nationales dans les espaces décisionnels continentaux et internationaux.

Voici ma biographie professionnelle:

Euph est un activiste béninois de la santé et des droits humains, titulaire d'un Bachelor en gestion des projets et d’un diplôme professionnel en délégation médical. Il est passionné par les recherches relatives à la diversité sexuelle, le genre, le développement social et le plaidoyer.
Il est Responsable Programmes de RÉSEAU SIDA-BENIN (2e Réseau Queer du Bénin) et Directeur Exécutif de Jeunes Dynamiques, une association qui travaille pour l'autonomisation des Jeunes Queer et travailleur.euse.s de sexe. Il a également été Coordonnateur de la communauté de pratique sur la santé mentale dans le cadre du programme Power of Pride au sein de COC Nederland et membre du Comité de Révision de la Constitution de Pan Africa ILGA.
Sur les programmes VIH au Bénin, il a été Responsable Suivi Evaluation sur le projet PEPFAR de FHI360, et actuellement Chargé de Programmes sur le programme VIH de Fonds Mondial et représentant des HSH au niveau de l'instance nationale de Fonds Mondial au Bénin.

THABISO

Thabiso Ch is a dedicated LGBTI advocate, community leader, and development
practitioner with over a decade of experience working with key populations in the Free State
province of South Africa. He leads strategic programming focused on LGBTI rights, HIV prevention, gender-based violence response, and community empowerment.

Thabiso also plays a significant national leadership role as the Deputy Chairperson of the
LGBTI Civil Society Sector under SANAC, contributing to policy advocacy, stakeholder
coordination, and strengthening community-led responses within the national HIV and
human rights agenda. In addition, he serves as the Co-Chairperson of the SOGIESC Hate
Crime and Corrective Rape Monitoring Forum in the Free State, a structure led by the
Department of Justice, where he supports efforts to track, respond to, and advocate against
violence targeting LGBTI persons.

With strong experience in programme management, stakeholder engagement, and grassroots
mobilisation, Thabiso has been instrumental in advancing inclusive health and human rights
services for marginalized communities.

Thabiso is passionate about amplifying GBMSM voices, advancing social justice, and
building sustainable, community-driven solutions that influence policy and improve the lived
realities of LGBTI people across South Africa and the African continent.

GHANA

FAISAL S.

Faisal S is a community-based health and human rights advocate with a strong commitment to advancing the health, dignity, and inclusion of GBMSM communities in Ghana. Since 2021, have worked as a Community Health Volunteer, building five years of experience in grassroots health education, community outreach, and linkage to care services for key populations, including GBMSM individuals. His work focuses on HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health education, stigma reduction, and improving access to friendly and non-discriminatory health services.
Over the years, Faisal have supported community outreach activities, peer education sessions, and referrals for HIV testing, treatment, and psychosocial support. Has engaged in advocacy efforts aimed at addressing stigma and discrimination that hinder access to healthcare for GBMSM persons. Through collaboration with local organizations and peer networks,and helped strengthen trust between health systems and marginalized communities.
A key achievement in his work has been his ability to mobilize community members to participate in health programs while promoting safer practices and awarenessand contributed to improving communication between service providers and GBMSM individuals, supporting more inclusive service delivery.
Faisal vision to the Africa GBMSM Forum is to amplify community voices, strengthen regional collaboration, and support rights-based, evidence-informed interventions. He is committed to contributing grassroots insights and supporting capacity building for emerging GBMSM leaders across Africa.

BOTSWANA

PILOT M

Pilot M is a distinguished LGBTI and HIV/AIDS activist with over 13 years of dedicated service across multiple Non-Governmental Organizations in Botswana. His career spans a remarkable breadth of roles — from Community Mobiliser to Programme Coordinator — through which he has built deep expertise in HIV/AIDS activism, community health, human rights advocacy, and organisational leadership. Throughout his career, Mr. Mathambo has worked with leading organisations including The Coping Centre for People with HIV/AIDS (COCEPWA), Botswana Network of People Living with HIV (BONEPWA), FHI360, Botshabelo Youth Health, the University of Botswana, and UNICEF —accumulating a rare combination of grassroots experience and high-level programme management that makes him a formidable voice in Southern Africa's public health landscape.
