The Africa GBMSM Forum, hosted by Global Black Gay Men Connect (GBGMC), is a continental, community-led platform that unites Gay, Bisexual men, and other Men who have Sex with Men (GBMSM) leaders and activists from all regions of Africa. Operating as a safe, Africa-rooted platform in often hostile and criminalizing environments, the Africa GBMSM Forum strengthens collective leadership, fosters coordination and learning, builds capacity, and amplifies authentic African GBMSM voices in regional and global policy arenas.
The goal is to advance health equity (particularly HIV prevention and treatment), human rights, stigma reduction, and sustainable community-led responses; build solidarity and resilience across linguistic, geographic, and intersectional divides; and ensure African GBMSM priorities meaningfully shape PEPFAR, Global Fund, UNAIDS, and broader advocacy efforts. Through working groups, steering structures, joint campaigns, and co-branded resources, the Forum delivers shared knowledge, coordinated advocacy, visibility, and practical support that empowers members to drive stronger national and continental impact.
